When making donations to ActBlue, I have always been careful to uncheck the box saying to make my donation monthly. (That box, BTW, is *checked by default*, which is troubling by itself.)

The monetary damages I am reporting are the charges to my credit card I found in my statements that were made on the same day of the months following the first donation in the amount: There were six months of $5 charges, all on the 4th of months 6-11, following my donation of $5 on 5/4. And there was one $35 on 11/30, following my donation of $35 on 10/31. (There is no November 31.) I noticed all this in Early December, went to the website, and found where to cancel the repeating charges.

I don't begrudge the extra money to the cause (ending the corruption resulting from the SCOTUS Citizens United decision), but I felt betrayed by ActBlue, and it has prevented me from donating to anything else that goes through them. I am sure I am not alone in wanting reassurance that unwanted repeat charges will never happen again, or failing that, an alternative method for donating toward the efforts they collect for.
