On October 20 while using the computer all of a sudden it turned black and a voice was coming from the computer informing me that my computer had been infected with malware and a virus. The background had the Microsoft Logo additionally there was a small black window telling me what had happened to my computer and a phone number where to call.
I called the number and a person with a marked Indian accent identified himself as Mark and told me that they were a Microsoft Silver Partner and that they were going to help me fix my computer and liberate it from the virus and malware, that there was going to be a charge for this service and that they were authorized by Microsoft to give this kind of service.
They asked me for my authorization to work from remote to fix what was wrong and they did that, when they had finished they asked me for my credit card number and charged my card $199.99.
I went to the Microsoft website and completed a report about this incident, also reported this to my bank to no avail, their charge went through.
I am reporting this so that others become aware of this type of scam and become more careful.
