Central Vortex Heating and Air complaint
On March 12th my Bryant AC unit began to blow uncooled air. I unplugged the master
fuse to reboot the unit and it ran fine again.
On March 14th Central Vortex Heating and Cooling (Dan Klick and Rob ?) examined my
2009 BRYANT AC unit and informed me;
(1)system was leaking puron.
(2)Evaporation coil was rusted and leaking.
(3)recommended leak sealant (stop leak)
(4)recharge refrigerant (4-5lbs.)
(5)new contacter
(6)new capacitor
(7)2 UV bulb replacements
(8)rustproof coil
(9)a two year maintenance contract with 2 inspections per year, 4 total.
(10)recommend refurbishing A/C system.
They said they needed $500 deposit towards refurbishing and for parts etc., and
owner Josh Alonso would be out the next day to begin work.
On March 15th Josh Alonso arrived and worked on the unit for about two hours. I was
then charged $1,500 more for a total of $2,000 for the job. He also said he would
return later in the day with the two Uv bulbs (why two? ,only one was needed) and
would begin the necessary steps to order the evaporation coil which i found out from
the Bryant company was under warranty.(it is also clearly posted on the unit the
date of installation - 2009).
He wrote on the final completion statement - did refurbish on system, need to
return with correct UV bulbs and need to order evap. coil under warranty. He did
return with the bulbs later that day, and one is sitting on top of the unit now
because only one was needed.
From March 16th to April 1st I called at least 20 - 25 times. When I did get through
to Josh to find out what was happening, I was given one excuse after another that
didn't make a whole lot of sense at times.
During this time i also contacted Carrier Enterprises, the local distributor of
Bryant parts to local contractors (the Bryant company gave me their number) and also
Ray French, the local Bryant contractor. No one at Carrier Enterprises had ever
heard of Central Vortex, and no one named Josh Alonso had a contract with them. I
also was told by Ryan at Ray French, and John and Jeremy at Carrier, that by putting
stop leak sealant into my unit the warranty was voided. They questioned why someone
would recommend, and charge a customer for refurbishing a unit that was under
warranty, and that stop leak is poison to the unit, it gums up the compressor
etc.,and voids the warranty. It is only used on old, out of warranty units as a last
ditch effort to stop a leak and is only a temporary solution.
On April 1st I received a call from Josh Alonso stating he was at Carrier
Enterprises filling out forms to get my coil but would need at least half of the
cost up front ( i had done some research and found out a new coil would run around
$1,400). When i told him he wasn't getting anymore money from me he said
goodbye.(Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me!).
I then called Ray French on April 5th and told Ryan what had transpired with Central
Vortex. He made an appointment to send out a technician April 7th to examine the
unit. I was also informed by Ryan that to charge for two years of maintenance is
totally against industry regulations.
Technician George M. spent about 2 1/2 hours and did a complete diagnostics and leak
check and looked at the computer records of the unit in the inside thermostat,
(Central Vortex never came in and looked at the thermostat). He told me that no
events, catastrophic or otherwise were recorded from 2013 up to March 14th and 15th
when Central Vortex was involved. He wrote on work order no leaks present or past
were detected and told me that the bad capacitor I showed him that was replaced was
probably to blame for the unit blowing uncooled air on March 12th. George also told
me that the stem valve had been chewed and damaged by squirrels and was probably why
the puron was down a bit. (he questioned the 4-5lbs I was charged at around $50 a
lb.), and simply replaced the stem valve.
George also looked at the work orders from Central Vortex and said that I should
have been charged a maximum of around $700-$800 and some of that work was
unnecessary. He definitely questioned why any company would charge for a
refurbishing on a 6-7 year old unit that was under warranty, and add stop leak that
voids the warranty. And then to request additional money to get the evaporation coil
that was under warranty , well I can't say what was said about that for ethical and
common courtesy reasons.(ha ha ha).
Central Vortex Heating and Cooling address is listed on the work orders as 7257 NW
4TH BLVD #70, Gainesville ,Florida 32607. But if you google-earth that you get Home
Depot, and no one at Home Depot has ever heard of an account with Central Vortex or
Josh Alonso. It is a post office box in the post office near there. After a little
research i found the company is in his wife's name, Janette C. Alonso at 5845 SW 78TH
Dr., Apt 281, Gainesville FL. 32608. But that is not a current address. They live
at 7121 SW 80TH TER. Mentone, Gainesville FL. 32608. PH:352-745-7891, Josh Alonso
Cell: 352-231-1318

Update: the attorney generals office, the local and state police fraud units, the department of business and professional regulation (investigator specialist Sandra Caslow) and several other investigating units now involved can't seem to locate these scumbags! They skipped out on the rent at the house they rented in Mentone and left the place trashed and heavily damaged. That cost them the $1800 security deposit, and with moving and hiding costs, I managed to hit their wallets for more than they ripped me off. Wonder where they skedaddled too?????? Keep FAR AWAY from any company that is owned by or employs Dan Klick, Joshua Alonso, or Janette Chaviano Alonso. Also if you look at Florida. Arrests.Org, you will find 11 arrest mugshots of Dan Klick over the past 10 years and 2 mugshots of Joshua Alonso. They probably met in prison. Let's send them back!!!!!!!!!
