Called me from a local number offering $100 gift card to join family savings club. I declined having got the call before and asked to be put on the do not call list. I was asking him to confirm my number and that he would do this when he hung up on me- thinking "how rude!" And being in a cranky mood from being ill, I decided to call him back to tell him hanging up on one mid sentence in just rude and unprofessional behavior. I was given the same spiel, so I asked for his supervisor. After a noisey moment a man sounding the same said hello and stated his name was different. I asked if I was just speaking with him, but was told I spoke with another representative whom said I requested him. Not wanting to argue this, as I have had customer service reps do this to me before to avoid getting a supervisor or fear of castigation for what they have done. The "supervisor" was, however, now very nice but now explained the spiel again but in better detail. Explaining that it is best to take this deal and most everyone does because I can use the $100 gift card anywhere today for joining by paying the $3.89 trial fee and simply canceling within 14 days by calling the 800 #. If I choose to remain a member I will get charged $14.95 each month though. Either way Id get the card emailed to me and available for use today! I thanked him for being so nice and explaining it to me and confirmed all he had told me. I told him I had joined A club like this in the past to get a gas card but had trouble canceling - that it was named family fun or something similiar. I was told I would have no issue canceling. I asked whom he worked for. He told me family fun. I asked- directly? You work for them directly? You aren't with a different company doing this job? He no said I work with family fun club. Not thinking I agreed to join. He said he would need to place me on hold. I said ok I gotta get my cc anyhow. As I went to get it I started to think about all the bad things that could happen. Thankfully when he got back on he said I'm sorry this deal is not available in your area. Now just wanting to know wtf was up with these people- I asked some questions- none were answered; the gift card or the club itself isn't available where I live? He told me it isn't available in my surrounding area. That he would place me on the do not call list but If it ever is
available where I live they could call to let me know. I said how would you call me if you remove my number and place me on the do not call list? I also stated that the number on the caller ID for them is a local number and is a suburb of the same city I am also very close to. According to caller id they are approx 10 min south of the city while i am 10 min north. I said it just does not make sense unless it is a spoof number to get locals to answer such as I did. It is odd that each one of you spoke Indian however that area would have a mix of people with Indian being a minoroty. I would not give you my info and will be reporting this call as it is fraud.
