I saw a listing on apartments.com about an apartment at Center City Philadelphia (1429 Walnut St. Philadelphia, PA). Upon reaching out through the website (apartments.com), a certain Julie Meehan reached out to me about the property. She said that the rent is being handled by airbnb, and asked me to send personal information that she will then forward to airbnb to start processing the rent. She even attached a copy of her passport. I then received email from airbnb (supposedly, but email was actually from [email protected]) saying my reservation was confirmed. I also received email about invoice and itinerary which were properly working before. Payment instructions was also provided, that is thru itunes gift card. I purchased one and paid as per instructions, again thru the link in one of the emails. After making the payment, i received another email confirming my payment. I was still communicating with Julie throughout the transaction until the payment was confirmed. I was trying to revisit the itinerary in the payment confirmation email and it's no longer working (page not found). I felt something is wrong and tried searching the net for Julie Meehan and the airbnb transaction and I found similar complaints.
