A man with an Indian accent called saying he was from QResolve. He wanted to load software onto my computer which would detect problems. I said that I had never heard of QResolve, that my computer was working just fine, that I used to have a contract with a Microsoft Technical Support group but that I thought it had expired. He said I might know them as "My Phone Support", or "Premium Tech Support". He said he was aware that I had a contract, that it had six months left on it, and he was just calling to update my computer software. (Some time ago I got a call like this but the Indian woman told me that my contract was about to expire and she tried to pressure me to renew.) I told him that I had gotten calls like this before, that the support people checked my computer and found problems and then wanted to charge me hundreds of dollars to fix them. He said, "Oh no, this is free." He kept trying to persuade me and I finally said, "No, I don't want to do this" and hung up. I shut my computer off, then restarted and did a Webroot scan. So far, all looks okay. I recently had my computer infected by malware and it erased all my software and documents so I am very wary. I asked for his phone number and he gave 1-844-202-1236. The number he called from on my cell phone was 973.784.8016.
