My 24 year old daughter was travelling from St. Albert Alberta to visit and her vehicle required an oil change and it lost power on the HI way.

She took it into the service department to have the oil changed and fluids top up as recommended and to have the power issue checked.
Service took it for a road test hooked up to the "computer" to diagnose the issue and returned to advise that the transmission was shot and needed to be replaced at a cost of $5,500.00 approximately.
My daughter called me to assist and I took it for a second opinion after, having the oil changed and fluids and diagnostic paid for at $168.00
When I took it for the second opinion, it was an exhaust issue only at a cost of only $1,500.00
This was a very vulnerable position for a young single lady and I am only glad she contacted me to ask questions. It saved $3,500.00!
It was very un-professional and I can't help but wonder if others have fallen to this MIS-Diagnosis by the "Good Wrench" Team.

I am very un-happy and will not return nor will I be accessing GM service ever again.
This upset my daughter immensely and it was not necessary if the dealership had of been competent enough to assist her initially.
