I found an amazing apartment listing on Airbnb in New York that was perfect for what I needed. The listing looked legitimate. I put in a request to rent and the "owner" (not true) contacted me via Airbnb email then requested we talk via text or personal email (NEVER DO THIS). We came to an agreement, he asked I wire the money, wire transfer went through and just like that there was no more communication. When we showed up to meet his so called wife. No show of course, and the concierge had no idea who these people were by name or picture. Total scam...So upsetting. Not sure how people sleep at night doing these things. Lesson learned.
