I was trying to follow up on a strange pop up which appeared while I was on facebook. It seemed to lead me into My Kaspersky as if K.has found something irregular and it needed immediate attention. A page opened into an offer of technical support. which seemed to come from Kaspersky/ Since i trust them (K) I went along with it It was a remote support which I also have with BELL in Canada. but there was always a long wait in queu, so Tried this approach. I stayed with it for over an hour as the techie cleared up several items. Then eventually he offered me a plan to purchase for a lifetime. That seemed pretty good as I am nearing age 80. I agreed and gave them my VISA info.and received a print out which was a receipt/ Customer ID and had an email to show what was done. I was given a list of items they did as watched as these were cleared away. They put in 60 to 90 minutes on all this. When i went out later and used my VISA card I was told it was compromised. rejected. I went right home and called the Royal Bank to check up on it and ordered my VISA to be cancelled and immediately replaced. I phoned their number (1888 959 7430 and 1 888 489 8307 and told them i was the victim of a scam. according to VISA authority, and i asked for a refund, telling them that I was no longer interested in their claims and i requested a refund. Of course they cannot put money back into my cancelled account , and there is no way i can recover this unless they agree to send me a cheque (most unlikely) The royal Bank of Canada has advised me that this looks like a scam. and I guess it is.
