I had apparently accidentally installed something on my laptop. My browser had popup that said I needed to contact support for McAfee and offered a link. I went looking for online tech support. Got a fellow who said he could help and would have a tech support call back. I got a call from RiseZone 800-616-5160. I should have googled that name & number and find it is a scam. The caller wanted to connect to my machine and do a remote control. (Thankfully no harm was done.) The caller then said he could fix the problem for $150. I declined. I then pursued online help for Norton and my browser connected me to THE SAME person! Got a call back from him, the SAME number. He claimed that he worked for both McAfee AND Norton. He was very rude. Hung up. I eventually got in contact with the REAL support for Norton and all got fixed.
