I received the second of two phone calls from a company which the caller refused to give the name of, but saying their client was Twin Bluffs Financial. That they, on behalf their client was offering a settlement amount of $575 if I paid today. They refused to offer up which company under Twin Bluffs Financial was involved, or the actual original amount of the loan...that it was a payday loan taken out in 2012 when I was supposedly employed by a company I have not worked for in years! Nor did I take out payday loan in 2012. The information the caller would provide was simply that I worked for said company and if I did not pay today, they would be sending all this information back to their client, Twin Bluffs Financial, and I would have wages garnished; be served at my place of employment, etc. Also, the caller was very belligerent about wanting to know where I work now; where I live. If they know so much about me, they'd already know that! She absolutely refused to give me information I asked for. The phone number showing up on my phone was 502-3; with a the phone of 877-201-8739 & her name was Laurie Bannister.
I have been getting bogus calls and emails like this a lot over the last few years and I've reported every one to FBI fraud, FTC fraud as well as other internet scam sites. The names and amounts are always different but always with the threat of court action, arrest, going to your place of employment or your home and being led out in handcuffs. A lot of these organizations call from multiple phone numbers or like this one, a coded number.
Beware...this is a major scam.
I refused to pay, of course, and as I stated. I asked for specific information which the caller refused unless I paid the $575 up front, then I would be given all the information. What a racket because I've read where people have actually paid some or all of whatever settlement has been offered only to find out that it was, of course, a rip off and bye bye money with no way to recover.
These people target seniors, for the most part, but they go after anyone who will pay them.
They need to be caught and hung up by the short and curlies!
