I placed an ad on gumtree looking to rent a flat in Birmingham. On 6th of April I received an email from the suspect, telling me she has a house to rent, I replied and arranged to see it on 16th of April. Arrived at 134 York Rd, B28 8LH, to find a woman and 3 small children aged 1, 3-4 and 10, house full with toys, washing stuff, furniture, all seemed ok. She said she is the sister in law of the owner, Aisha Khan which was in fact her false name. She said that the owner lives in Middlesborough and will come on 29th of April when I was suppose to move in. On 18th of April me and a friend signed the contract, me as tennant and my friend as witness and the suspect signed in behalf of the landlord, then I paid £600 as deposit. I have the fake contract, all the emails and texts between us.
On 21st she replied my email and text asking her which energy provider she is with, then on 27th I texted her again and she didnt answer. On 29th of April I came with a moving van with all my belongings and my flat mate Laura Lupu to the address, to find out that she is not there and the contract is fake. At the address there was a Ms.Sonia from the letting agency who is taking care of the house (or so she said), who kept us and the van waiting from 1 pm to 4 pm, trying to decide if to rent me the house or not. She has the phone number: 07882006368 and her car was a silver Nissan Micra, BK 05 SEO plate. She asked for £700 rent for a unfurnished house, without white goods as well, I refused and took my belongings into a deposit until 1st of May when I moved to my current address.
