I answered a telephone sales pitch. A young lady offered a vacation discount package, referring to the Marriott name. It consisted of certificates for 2 vacations - 6 days/5 nights for one of several places in Mexico, also 8 day/7 night cruise certificate, and after talking to a manager they threw in another 5 day/4 night cruise certificate. 5 years to use. Sounds good. Cost started at $1195 plus tax. Came down to $927. I told them I was concerned about fraud. They referred me to web site and thier phone number 800-901-2497. It looks good, but shallow. I called the number, got a pleasant operator, transferred to a verifications manager - he confirmed name of sales person and wasn't pushy. I thanked him and hung up. Checked the web. Found essentially nothing. Not good. Not bad. Searched on phone number. Found only one hit for similar sales pitch. They called me back, decided to drop price another $200 to $599 for same certificates. I took a chance and gave visa card info. Credit card fraud alert declined it as foreign charge. It originated in Cancun, MX - as they represented themselves.

So, bottom line, I chickened out and told the credit card company to keep declining. I cannot confirm that they are either a fraud or are legitimate. I also found other general vacation package specials for similar pricing, without the discomfort and concern. I recommend against them unless you can get better confirmation that they are legitimate.
