I requested information, got called back and went through the same experience as described by many on this site. Credit card number requested to check payment means then payment applied straight away while no application was completed / submitted, and no clear indication such payment would be made or for what purpose. I blocked the credit card, but it was too late. I open a dispute with my bank and I'm following up with a legal complaint. If you are in the same case, I suggest you consider those options. They do exist.
