Entrust Energy has door to door salesmen in our town, and one came to my residence and showed me how much lower my KPH would be if I switched from Star Tex to Entrust, about 2 kph lower and about 20% off my average bill. I told him I would try it, but was holding him accountable if it didn't pan out like he said it would.
I also recorded the whole conversion on my home surveillance video. Just before he handed me the phone to go over the agreement with a woman, he said I was not to mention anything we talked about or it would void the contract, and to just agree to whatever she said. Three times during my conversation I repeated that I was only agreeing to the terms if they included a lower rate after all the add on charges and the total amount was lower than my current bill, per kwh. She just said I had to agree to their terms as per the "script" she was reading from. I finally agreed to the terms, and when I got my first bill, it showed I was being charged a lower rate per kwh, but when I compared it to my older Star Tex bill, I was actually paying more for the same amount of usage, and my ONCOR surcharges were 45.00 instead of around 5.50 with Star Tex, which was about one third of my 140.00 bill, which would have been about 100.00 with Star Tex. I repeatedly was told over the phone on several calls that Entrust had no control over ONCOR charges, nor what any salesman told me, and I was getting the rate I agreed to. After doing much research I found that with Star Tex, my rate included ONCOR charges plus the 5.50. After I switched back to Star Tex, and I had to accept a higher rate and a 3 year contract, they sent a letter stating they were going to start showing the actual price pkw plus ONCOR's actual charges, which was a lot more than 5.50 an hour, and they wanted to do this in order to show what ONCOR actually charges, which was as I said a lot more than 5.50 per month. But, Star Texas was absorbing this ONCOR charge and my rate per kwh included those charges, so my overall price reflected the pkw they quoted me, and as I said that made my bill much lower than Entrust's rate which they knowingly did not include ONCOR surcharges, and therefore knowingly baited and switched me on the price by saying I would save money on my monthly bill, when in fact it was higher. I told them I absolutely refused to pay more for electricity service when they lied to me, and baited and switched me, and the salesman gave me a phony contact number to call. I also told them if they tried to pursue forcing me to pay the high disconnect fee I would sue them. They stopped trying to collect from me, but months later I found that I was turned down for a loan and it was because ENTRUST sent my alleged "debt" to a collection agency in the amount of 500.00. I have spoken to my attorney and am in process of sending them a letter to either remove the claim from my credit file or I will file a lawsuit against them for damages. I am also seeking any and all persons who feel they have been defrauded by ENTRUST, or salesmen representing ENTRUST, to possibly file a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT against them. I am seeing several complaints on line so I am encouraging anyone who has been in this situation to contact me. If you were lied to by an ENTRUST rep, and Entrust told you that they are not responsible for what their salesmen tell you, but what you agreed to in their contract, then contact me. If your bill was higher than what your previous provider charged you, or the price per kwh did NOT include ONCOR or other service surcharges, then contact me. No one in their right mind would allow a company to charge them more than what they previously were getting before an aggressive salesman tricked them into signing on with them, regardless of whatever legal mumbo jumbo they try and throw at you. And Entrust will never get a dime from me. Since that incident I have had 2 more salesmen knocking on my door, and when I asked them to leave they got very aggressive and doubled down on badgering me for info, until I told them to leave or I was going to call the police and sue them. I even had one approach me as I was working at a residence in their front yard, and tried to sign me up, before I told him to back off, and he got really belligerent with me. These people are relentless liars, and ENTRUST should be ashamed of allowing this type behavior, and they will end up paying for it in court.
