I was contacted by a representative from Smart Retailing. They told me that I could order discount magazines for "only" $67.90 per month. I was also elagable for free airplane fares and other smart retailing bonus points attractions. I was also told that I could opt out any time I wanted to discontinue the service. Last Oct. I tried to book my "free" airplane trip. I was then told that I had to stay at some place the company had a contract with. I informed them that I would be traveling to see my daughter and grandchild. . I told them that I did not want to stay at their accommodations as I would be staying with my daughter and grandchild. after the telephone rep. told me that I could not take advantage of the free airfare unless I agreed to stay at their "resort"
At this point I told them to discontinue my membership with their company. I explained that they had been deceptive in their advertising and I wanted no further transactions with them. The rep.them said that I'd have to pay $1,500.00 for the magazines. I reminded them that they said I could discontinue my plan at any point. The man said that I could discontinue payments once I made a payment of $1,500.00. I refused payment and they have called trying to get the money ever since. Has anyone ever heard of having to pay $1,500.00 for magazines.
