Purchased a van and the dealership in waukesha, WI. Brought it from Akron, Ohio, where the conversion was done. That included a side ramp. Less than 2 weeks after receiving the van. The air conditioning quit working. And a major repair was done at local dealership in Racine, WI. Where I live. Since having the van. I noticed many issues with the conversion. The screws and bolts used inside and out are rusting. Obviously aluminum alloy wasn't used. The gate ( side ramp ), hasn't worked properly since about a week after receiving the vehicle. It doesn't open and close properly. And sometimes I have to hold in the ramp. For the door to close. Due to the ramp not fuctioning properly. I almost drove my power wheelchair off the side. Because it dark in the parking lot of my apartment building. And the gate had not opened completely. the front passenger seat track that it sits on, was never glued down. So the seat is very unstable, when removing it. The back seats don't operate properly. And its very difficult to get them to fold or put back in position. the buttons on the inside of the sliding doors, don't operate properly. So the ramp will open half way. Then close. Most of the time I have to hold the ramp. Or the door will not close. The controls for the air & heat system located on the roof of the middle area, where my wheelchair is. Does not go out of lock position. Until driver has to play with the control in the front panel. Bottom line, it looks like the conversion was done to quick and they cut corners, when doing the conversion. I emailed the manager Andrew Blumberg several times. And he has not responded to any of my email. Except one. A few months ago, they were having a maintenance special. I told about my issues. He said he would have it checked out when I brought the vehicle in for the maintenance. I was unable to keep several appointments. Because I had a rough winter. I have ALS. and my driver was unable to bring the vehicle in. Since then, I have emailed Andrew about the issues. And have not gotten one response. I trusted him. and signed papers saying the vehicle was working properly. But, my main concern is the ramp. And how many times I almost drove the wheelchair off the side. Because of the ramp. Not working properly. On top of the fact that alot of money was paid to convert the 2013 Dodge caravan xlt.
Their is alot of shoddy work done on the trim not being secure inside. Screws and bolts rusting, inside and out. And as I said the control buttons for the side doors not working properly. And the worst hazard. The ramp not opening and closing completely. And rattles very loud, while driving. I even had have better velcro put on the bottom of the seats back covers. Because the velcro used. Was so thin. It did not secure the covers. That caused another hazard. Especially if there was a accident. and the covers came lose and hit someone.
One thing that is separate from the vehicle but related. Being they charged almost $22000 for the conversion on top of the cost of vehicle. I used there in house financing. And they charged 11.5% interest on the loan even though $ 22000 was put towards down payment. I ended up going through my credit union. And had it refinanced with 2.99%interest
What really upset me. Is I believed and trusted Andrew Blumberg ( sales mgr )
Now, I can't even get him to respond to my emails. The dealership is about 45 minutes from where I live. I may be dying. But I fear that some night. I am going to drive down the ramp and tip over the wheelchair. And become hurt. On top what I deal with now. Thank you
