Omni-tech had already taken $299.00 for a one year subscription from my wife and she did not renew. They called numerous times and today she heard them say they "detected" malware and would like to correct it. Unbeknownst to me, she granted remote access and the thick foreign language accented tech told her that he found an issue that was not picked up by the antivirus, but that he could fix for $159. She found me and handed me the phone and I challenged this assertion. I refused to pay and said I would have the IT guys at work look at it for me. At this point he became abusive and said they could not fix it and the hard drive would crash within 48 hours. I said that is absurd and I was not going to pay any $$ to take his word over an IT friend. He said that I should throw it in the trash now because it would fail and we would not have any access to files. As I looked at the screen, he was DELETING documents and photos threw remote access! I quickly turned off the PC and he denied doing anything so I hung up. Please... DO NOT use this service!! When restarting, he had put a password requirement to start the PC. We were able to bypass this and recover files from the recycle bin. What a malicious and mean spirited thing to do. Please avoid this at all cost. Stick with a local technician or the manufacturer or a national chain for support.

  • Please let me make one thing clear. We do not call anyone, unless they are an existing customer and we are trying to reconnect their computer, or they are an existing customer that has a plan that is expiring, which we call once, or twice prior to one month service expired, if they do not answer. we will send out an e-mail to get back to us for renew the plan. We record every keystroke of every call / chat and every step taken, so we can confidently prove that we only called this customer once when his plan was about to expire.

This contact was from a well-known scam that has intensified recently. These tech support scam calls that are making the rounds recently are from unscrupulous companies and individuals, who are calling people claiming that their computer is infected with numerous viruses and that the only way to prevent their computer from fatally crashing is to subscribe to their tech support services, so they can remove the threats. Sometimes, to lend credibility to their scam, they claim to be representatives of a leading tech support company, like we are. We are a top ten tech support firm. Sometimes they even spoof (fake) the display of a telephone number of reputable company, to add to their “credibility”.

In this instance, the complainer hasn’t revealed any details with which we can use to determine if this person is actually our customer in the first place, or is a competitor trying to cast doubt on us. We invite this person to provide some actual details like, date of supposedly contacting us, the customer ID he/she was given, or his/her email address, so that we can investigate further into this particular case and resolve it, if it is real. On this alleged situation, we are unable to comment on anything.

We, OmniTech Support, are a fee-based solution to our customer’s needs and there
