Dear Owner,
I apologize for referring to you by this title, but your employees refused to give me your name.
I am addressing you at this time in a state of frustration. I have been in contact with two of your employees, namely Jason Goodman, Mgr. and Mike Freeman, for several weeks now to no avail. It is obvious they are well versed in their strategic replies. As a result I have gained no satisfactory resolution nor response to my situation.
I attended a presentation by Colossal Consulting for Saver Express. Afterwards I was given a voucher for a “free” airline ticket for two. I sent the voucher in and instead of receiving the airline tickets I was sent a letter from your company, Oracle Travel Promotions, requesting a $70.00 “Activation Fee”. I thought that rather strange for a “free” promotion.
I sent a check for that amount and in return received another letter stating that the items activated were: 2 Round-Trip Air + $50 Dining Card + 50% Car Rental + 3 Day Comp. Hotel. However, the envelope only contained a “Take-off for 2” voucher which allowed a buy one get one free companion ticket. This was certainly NOT what was supposed to have been sent – one wrong voucher and nothing else!
I placed my first of many calls to follow and spoke to Mike. He apologized for the error. He asked that I return the voucher to his attention and he would see that the correct items were sent. I also asked him about the activation fee of $70.00. He said that companies making travel presentations often purchase vouchers for the free airline tickets as an incentive for persons to attend. When giving out the vouchers they omit to tell the recipients that there will be activation fees involved. As a result, Oracle is no longer dealing with these companies – who, conveniently, will remain nameless…
One month later I received an envelope with the following enclosed:
1. Two $50.00 Hotel/Restaurant cards requiring a $9.95 fee for each one to start
2. A Passport to Value voucher requiring a $4.95 fee to start
3. A Time 2 Get Away! voucher (two night, not three, hotel stay) requiring a $29.95 fee
There was nothing for a car rental and the airline tickets were noticeably missing.

I called and spoke to Mike Freeman again. He was apologetic and said he had tried to call me about the airline tickets. He claims he “thought” he had left me a message. I screen my calls and would have picked up once he started to speak. A message was never left. He proceeds to tell me that he had come across a better airline promotion for me and wanted to discuss the options. My current choice of two FREE airline tickets would incur further charges totaling $288.00. However, the new one would only cost $188.00.
At this point all I could see was a never ending litany of fees! I told him that it was all now beyond redemption and that I would like a refund of my original $70.00.
He said that it was seldom done but I could discuss it with the Manager, Jason Goodman. He transferred me and I got voicemail. As I redialed I found it curious to note that one man was “free” and the other ”good”. After several attempts I was able to connect with Jason. I re-explained the situation to him and he said he would have to discuss it with the nameless owner. He would call the following day.
Two days later, after receiving no call, I contacted Oracle Customer Service again. Mike responded and once again sent me to Jason’s voice mail. I called again and Mike said Jason was on the other line, but would call me back. Obviously he didn’t, so I did several hours later. The same thing happened. In my persistence it became obvious that I was being given the runaround and there was no intention whatsoever of ever being called back with a definitive answer.
At this time, even though your company may be of reputable nature, the impression that I personally perceive is that of deception.
In view of the aforementioned situation I am forthrightly sending a request directly to you that a refund of $70.00 be initiated in my stead.
I do appreciate your attention and look forward to hearing from you in the very near future.
