This program piggybacked itself into my computer system. I subscribe to Carbonite and when I got a backup prompt I hit it. Then this speedybackup page immediately popped up, describing itself as a Microsoft partner. I immediately closed it.It does not show up in the list of all programs. When I got an email from a customerservice rep,I emailed back the request that speedybackup remove all its software from my computer. They kept sending emails that became more threatening -- the wording I think was "wouldn't it be terrible" if my system crashed and I didn't have backups. I emailed that this was a threat and I damn well better not have a system crash. On March 28, 2014, two days before the trial period expired I had a complete and total system crash, when I was out of the house. Everything is gone. In 25 years of computer usage I've never had anything to compare with it. When I do system restore, the computer shows it restoring but I am unable to get Windows functions and the screen goes back to the manufacturer's desktop page. Carbonite restoration does not work. Even though my "trial period" is over I still get messages that Speedybackup has a number of files backed up and when I hit any command button I am taken to a page where I have to subscribe to speedypal before anything else can happen. Obviously they're holding my information hostage. There is a frequent message about recycling bin corruption and nothing repairs it. I have not access to the email messages. The computer itself seems to be damaged. My Carbonite is useless. If I go ahead and pay the money there's no guarantee that I will get my data back and that the damage could be repaired.
