My wife and I signed up for a travel club for $7393 with City Travel Brokers(CTB) with reservations to be handled by Management Services Group (MSG). We did this at the Mariott in La Jolla, CA on 11/9/13. We changed our mind and I returned to the Marriott the next day to cancel the purchase. John, the salesman, convinced me to continue and he would credit my account with $4000 and I would save the balance in a few years as their cruise prices were at least 20% lower than any prices I could get on my own. I agreed and received the credit. The next day I called MSG and got a quite on a cruise. I also requested an identical cruise from my travel agent. The following day my travel agent quoted me a price lower the MSG's and I called John to complain. He said there must be a mistake and he'd call me back into hours. After three hours, I called John again and he said he was checking and would caal be back that same day. He never did and hat night I wrote to CTB canceling my purchase and sent it certified mail the following day.
For the past three months, I have spoken to MSG and Customer Service of CTB, both in Little River SC, requesting a refund. Initially, both agreed I was entitled to it, but it never arrived. Finally, CTB said that my letter arrived on the fourth business day after I signed he contract and therefore it didn't meet the cancellation terms of the contract. When I requested the full names of the Salesmen involved, I got no response from CTB and a statement from MSG that they had no affiliation with CTB. It's interesting to note that the company that issued the $4000 credit has the same box number in Little River as MSG, yet they're not connected.
All my calls to both CTB Customer Service and John are never returned, and MSG continues to insist they have no way of contacting CTB except thru a phone number for Customer Service.
