Did not renew contract with Omni-tech Support. MY COMPLAINT ABOUT OMNI TECH IS THEY WOULD NOT HELP DETERMINE IF I HAD BEEN HACKED UNLESS I SIGNED UP WITH THEM AGAIN! ARE THEY SCAMMING ME? Received a telephone call from "Sara" from Omni Tech and she claimed she was randomly checking my computer. According to Sara, she found that I may have been hacked and wanted me to "open my computer" so she could check to see if I was hacked. Long story but did not open computer, asked for an Omni Tech telephone number to call and ask for her. She then gave me info about when I signed up with Omni Tech and said she was from Omni Tech. I hung up and called number -- phone answered saying "tech support". Called Omni Tech Support - they said Omni Tech Support did not call me and would not check my computer to see if hacking occurred using their information? Why would I sign up with them again?

  • We simply don’t call people and tell them they have a virus. This is a well-known scam that has intensified recently. Absolutely nobody can tell if a computer is infected, unless they have access to the computer. This is like someone calling up a Ford owner and telling him that he needs a tune up! If someone calls with this line, people should just hang up.

This is a former customer who did not choose to renew his service plan when it expired. Our obligations to him had contractually ended. Even though his plan has expired, we would be happy for him to get back to us and we will run a free diagnosis, using trusted 3rd-party diagnostic software. Obviously we are a fee-based solution to our customer’s needs and that fact is clearly mentioned on our website.

This tech support scam that is making the rounds recently are from unscrupulous companies and individuals, typically from Eastern Europe, that are calling people claiming that their computer is infected with numerous viruses and the only way to prevent their computer from fatally crashing is to subscribe to their tech support services, so they can remove the threats. Sometimes, to lend credibility to their scam, they claim to be representatives of a leading tech support company, like we are.

We provide quality, affordable technical support, and always try to provide the best services to our customers. As always, we are here to assist people who truly need our experienced technician’s help regarding their any software related-issues at any time, day or night.
