I, too, fell for this pitch:
Hi,
I'm Tiffany, you've emailed me about my 64GB ipad 3 with wifi and 4G I'm selling on Craigslist.
I'm sorry but now I'm in Calgary, Canada.
I've taken some pictures with the ipad and I will attach them to this email.
The ipad is brand new and it works with any carrier as it's unlocked by Apple.
I hope that you still want to buy it.
Thanks.
As others have stated, this was a Craigslist ad. The first time it appeared, the address in a US suburb near where I live.
Like the others, "Tiffany" would not agree to meet, would not accept cash, insisted on using CollectPlus and Western Union and she now indicated she'd gone to Calgary, Canada.
I sat on the idea a while and after the New Year's was contacted again. The package was to be delivered by FedEx.
Only after receiving the notice the money had been picked up did I discover the CollectPlus email, customer service link, etc., were all bogus.
When the package failed to arrive, I tried all the email addresses I'd collected and all emails were returned as undeliverable.
Like another victim said, I feel foolish as 64 falling for something that should have been so obvious.
I'm sure this isn't likely but is any recourse possible? I've emailed the English version of CollectPlus, which does appear to be legit.
