I recently balanced our checking account and discovered a charge of $59.90 taken from our account on September 3, 2013. I contacted our bank and they informed me this charge was from a debit card and started on July 1, 2013. I asked my husband if he purchased magazines from this company and he said no. We closed the card and I placed a call to 855-257-1726 (which was listed as a reference on our bank statement) on October 22, 2013 and got an answering machine request to leave a message. No company name or any information was given. I left a message that further payments have been stopped and someone needed to return my call and explain the charges. On Oct. 24, 2013 at 6:39AM I received a call from Prolific Mktng (956) 428-2568 and talked with the "office manager". He stated my husband accepted a recorded telephone contract July 1st and if further payments were not made we would be turned over to a third party collection agency. The person I talked to would not give me an address, name, or person of higher authority that I could contact. He kept up his phone spiel and when I interrupted him he hung up the phone. I tried to call back the number and the phone rang and rang and rang ending with a message "answering system off." I went on-line to look up this company and contacted magazines.com. The rep. I talked with there had no record of contact with my husband in their system, She did some investigating and found the above Prolific Marketing listed in Harlington, Texas and supplied me another phone #: 956)412-1490. I called it and the same thing happened, The phone rang and then "answering system off."
