I made a reservation through HotelsOne.com for a hotel in Fayetteville, NC, for two nights. After realizing I would be able to leave after just one night and return home, I contacted HotelsOne.com asking to modify my reservation and cancel the second night. I received the following response:

"Thank you for contacting Customer Support regarding your date modification request on your booking with itinerary number XXXXXXXX.

We have tried to change the dates of your reservation from October 18-20 to 18-19, 2013. However, we regret to inform you that we are unable to make modifications without penalty because your reservation is non refundable. You will be charged an additional 142.85 USD upon changing your reservation.

Please take note of the Cancellation or Change Policy: The room type and rate selected are non-refundable. Should you change or cancel this reservation for any reason, your payment will not be refunded. No refunds will be issued for late check-in or early check-out. Stay extensions require a new reservation.

Please be advised that your reservation remains the same. Kindly advise us on how you would like to proceed.

We appreciate your business and we look forward to assisting you in the future."

The room cost me $135.65 per night, and I was just informed that it is non-refundable. SO WHY ON EARTH WOULD I PAY THEM $142.85 TO CANCEL IT???? Talk about a stupid scam!!! Do yourself a favor and never, ever deal with this website. They are not based in the U.S. and are dishonest to say the least.
