I was called by a sales person from General Subscription service and was told that I had won $1000 in a visa per-pay gift card. That all I had to do was pay for the shipping and sign up for a magazine subscription. I am in debt with doctors from having cancer so this was a good idea I thought. But turns out it was a rip off a scam. Now I'm not getting a gift card but have lost money too. I want my money back or my free gift.

Update: 10/18/2013

They are still billing me for a magazine subscription that I was charged for. That was fraud and aggravating me by calling me. I need something done.

  • I received a phone call like everyone else saying I had signed up online somewhere and was going to receive a $1,000 gift card if I ordered magazines through General Subscriptions. I am an intelligent woman so why I fell for this I am not sure. Yet I did really want the magazines as I am getting married soon and loved the bridal magazines available. I also ordered several others during this call. I had agreed to pay the original $29.99 and could cancel after receiving my information or a week out from the order. Well you don't receive their information in a week it takes about 2-3. So when I called to cancel letting them know that I had also just lost my job due to a disability that was unexpected they would not let me cancel.
A few months later I got a call while I was out Christmas shopping saying they were sorry for the calls and if I paid $79.99 they would stop. I was in a store where I couldn't hear anything so I barely knew what was happening durning this call. I thought she said I could pay that and it covered the rest of the year of my subscriptions as well. So I was like I want these payments to stop so sure I'll pay it and be done with it. WRONG! They now are still charging me $29.99 and now charging me an additional $39.99 that I did not authorize. Not only that I only received one magazine out of the like 6 that I ordered and NEVER received a $1,000 gift card. I cannot believe I was so naive, I know better!

I haven't canceled my card yet, but I am heading to my bank today to file a dispute and cancel my card. I tried to call the company again to discuss this with them first and to let them know my lawyer will be in contact so they can try to report me to a credit agency all they want but the number listed on my bank account and on the internet is wrong. If anyone has the correct number, would you please share it with me?

These people need to be stopped!!
