A couple of weeks ago I answered an ad for a pot of an anti-aging cream for £4.95. I paid on my debit card and the transaction went through and some days later I received the product. No paperwork was included and no company name was on the product. Today i happened to notice an unexpected charge on my bank account to the same outfit - this time for £89! I rang the bank who said they could do nothing to reverse this payment, even though I had not authorised it. I am now concerned that this outfit has my debit card details and will try using them again. So I have cancelled my card.
Taking £89 out of my account without my permission must surely be illegal. Is there no legal redress?
