The ad for their skin products on line (www.rvtl.com) said I would be charged $4.95 S and H for the free trial products. However, when I checked my bank statement that charge was listed as a foreign transaction fee on 6/2. I was also charged a second foreign transaction fee of $9.95 on 6/2 for the second free trial product. These fees were listed for products identified on the bank statement as Healthy Skin and as Skin System. I was out of town when my July bank statement arrived and I was shocked to discover that I had been charged $99.00 on 6/17 for a product called Outside In Skin and $93.00 for a product called Wrinkle Free Face! I wash again charged a "foreign transaction fee" of $5.76 on
7/3. Also this time the bank statement indicated that the product was from "GBR." Unfortunately, I did not return home til early August when I also discovered MORE charges, now on 8/2 $105.95 for Outside In Skin and $99.95 for WrinkleFree Skin PLUS again a "foreign transaction fee" of
$9.33. There was nothing in the original ad on the website which indicated that the product was shipped from Great Britain. I immediately called this phone number:
1-877-524-0260 to complain and demand a refund and to cancel any future order. The phone was answered by a young woman who never identified the company. She immediately transferred my call to a man with an Indian accent who said that I could only be refunded $50 ( for BOTH products!) when I returned the August shipment. Even if I returned the unopened July shipments, I could expect no refund. I was also disturbed that the products were each shipped from two different states - California and Nevada but the phone numbers for both products were:
1-877-524-0260 and 1-877-524-0273. I said I found the products unsatisfactory and that I was convinced that I was the victim of a scam. I also said I would file a report with the Better Business Bureau. Today (8/16) I called the latter number to make sure I would not receive any future shipments, and the man I spoke to, again another one with an Indian accent, said that had already been taken care of and then I understood why I had not received that shipment. However, I have received the RVTL shipment with an authorization to return it, which I am doing today.
The number of dishonest aspects of the so-called free offer convince me this is a scam: 1) no mention of foreign origins and foreign transaction fees on the website, 2) the change in the names of the products from June to July, 3) the mailings from two different states, 4) the lack of any product information included in the shipments. Here are the return addresses for the products: 1285 Baring Blvd #297, Sparks, NV 89434 and 2551 E Ave S, Suite G100, Palmdale, CA 93550. I also have printed out the website information which includes the following: Phoenix Labs Inc, with the same CA address and the following phone number: 1-877-316-1865. I am M.P.
