I received a message on my phone (An automated voice saying the following)
"My name this is the Civil Investigations Unit. We are contacting you in regards to a complaint being filed against you. pursuant. The claim and affidavit #********* where you have been named as a respondent in a court action and must appear. there is a contact number on file that you must call 561-288-6364 - please forward this information to your attorney, in that the order to show cause contains a restraining order. You or your attorney will have 24 hours to oppose this matter."
I called and didn't get much info from the moron who answered. I questioned the hell out of him because he didn't even know my address. Then said finally that someone must have stolen my identity and that I would be served papers to appear in court. He had NO information regarding any legal appearance date. I will say that when I called it put me through a few options that were probably all directed to the same person. My mind was racing at the time so I wasn't paying attention to it then. I have some friends who hunt people like this for the government on a much bigger scale and I'm sure they wouldn't mind a lead. Don't fall for the trap - IT"S A SCAM GIVE THEM NOTHING OVER THE PHONE!
Update: 08/06/2013
I received another call from these scam artists. Only this time they called my parents home out west. Played the same recording to my father - the one that they left on my message machine yesterday (see previous message).
