they tricked me into thinking that there is no cost of signing up and that a credit card information was needed as verification.Later did i know, i received a text message citing that i have 'spent' USD 19.99 on the website.

Hello there,
In 3 days , they will deduct 99.99 USD from your card and issue recurring charges to your card i.e every month they will deduct 99.99 USD. Call your bank and block your card.
Even I was in same situation like yours and here is the solution.
goto "members.homewebprofit.com" and there is a customer care chat window, when they are online (North america day time), chat with them
the response will be delayed so have patience and speak to customer service. tell them to cancel your subscription and ask for refund.
I spoke to customer care, cancelled my subscription, asked for refund and also they said, 19.99 USD they deduct on registration will be void and they do it only to verify the card and prevent online fraud.
I did have opinion that this is fraud but the customer care discussion made me feel somewhat confident that my money is not lost.
Give a try on this.
