I was called at work by a man claiming his name was Brad Nelson (perfect all-American name) with an East Indian or Pakistan accent. I knew right away that this was another of those payday loan scams (they have been trying to get me on these several times). He gave me a phone number of 951-281-0308 (he said he was calling from California). The other numbers I keep seeing are 253-246-8541 (Kent, WA), 989-854-2368 (MI), and 503-468-5002 (Astoria, OR). They use VoIP technology and route it to where it looks like a call from within the US, when it's not. I called this guy on his bluff...the first thing out of his mouth was that he was calling to find out what the name of my attorney was and what his phone number was. I told him that if I had not received information of or been served papers in regards to a lawsuit being filed against me how was I to know that I needed an attorney. He said that after I give him my attorney's info he would send the suit. I told him that I knew he was not from the US and that I was cooperating with the Dept of Homeland Security and that if he called me again, I would turn all info over to them. I then hung up on him. He called back and proceeded to harass me again. I told him the same thing and added that I was also talking to the FBI. He told me that he was a former member of the FBI. I asked him to repeat that statement and he said that he was a former member of the Indian side of the FBI (Inappropriate Content Removed) (use your imagination). I hung up on him again and asked the receptionist that if the Indian sounding (Inappropriate Content Removed) calls back again, to hang up on him.

My suggestion, once contatcted by these characters, send the info to Dept of Homeland Security and FBI. If they continue to contact you, inform them that you are turning their info over to the federal authorities. Usually once they hear this, they will not bother you any more.
