My apartment complex sent out numerous letters notifying me my lease was ending. 30 days prior to it actually ending I called to get the fax # to fax my intent to vacate and was informed a 60 notice was necessary. After determining there was nothing the complex could do for me to help me get out of the apartment on the original date I was to move out, I requested the fax number to send my 60 day notice. About 15 days later, I recieved a phone call from the complex asking if I planned to sign a new lease. My answer to them was no and asked if they recieved my fax. They hadn't. After arguing back and forth it was concluded the number given to me when I asked for the fax # to send the letter was a phone number. At this point I was made aware I had to stay 45 days passed my original date of lease end which pushed me to the 25th of August. On July 1st, I submitted my rent as I had for the 12 previous months and recieved a letter July 5th that my rent amount was not fulfilled. I remaining balance of $272 is required which will accrue $5 a day in fees until it is paid or I am to vacate the premises on July 10th. I called the complex again to be informed that when I entered the 45 days that I am being forced to stay, the lease went into month to month terms which takes the rent amount up to market value. $272 more than what I had been paying. I have gone through 2 cars and a job since living in this complex. There have been 2 fires, 1 murder and I found a MAN in my car in the very early morning when leaving for work one day. This is supposed to be a crime free zone. I would like to file a complaint against the management of Saratoga Ridge Apartments.
