The scam started in 2008. Please do not comment on my naivety, gulibility and. . .Stupidity. I joined the life membership, committing to $1,300 life membership. No other costs down the track were mentioned. Then it all started. Next year, in 2009, I was called by a professionally sounding voice and asked to pay $500 to be included in the annual book. I said that I had been told there nothing else to pay, as that was life membership all about. They started to get quite aggressive, and said you would have to pay. I did. The year after, 2010, they send me another plaque which I had not ordered. In 2011 they called and said I would have to pay for the plaque. I replied that I never ordered They said "since you did not return it, it is yours and you have to pay for it". I paid, thinking they could force me. Then , 2 weeks later I received another plaque. Finally I realised the full scam. Late, I know. I received another call shortly thereafter and I told them I am cancelling my membership. They started to get threatening on the phone. Not long after, this week I received another call mantiioning that my cancellation of membersjip has been approved and I would have to pay $900. I said I wouldnot pay anything, and got then threatened that because I am not cooperative, I would have to pay the full cancellation fee of $5,000! I also mentioned that my CC has changed, and the guy, one Mark, said that they do not care about that, as they have other ways. I hang up. Be very careful with these scam, they prey on people's vanity and ego. . . Prime example here. Do not sign for any documents from them, and change your CC if they already have your details.
