The data base for this vendor was accessed by an unauthorized third party on May 14, 2013. The e-commerce platform provider for Shumsky notified them on May 16, 2013 that the records of nearly 1,400 cardholders had been accessed. Shumsky failed to notify the cardholders of this potential identify theft until releasing an e-mail on 5/22/2013. Meanwhile, on 5/20/2013, an American Express Business Gold card in my name had $646.80 in fraudulent charges applied through Travelocity. I spent 8 hours today working with credit card issuers, the FBI, police in 3 jurisdictions, and the Federal Trade Commission to address problems caused by my identity theft as a result of Shumsky failing to notify me, as a customer, that my credit card information was at risk from May 14, 2013 until May 22, 2013.
