I had registered for a domain name and e-mail accounts with Register.com, so after several years, I decided I no longer wanted or needed the Domain name so I decided to allow the account to expire (as I knew my credit card had expired). {This part is my fault, but did not realize that Register.com was so unscrupulous} Register.com, just sequenced my expiration date and renewed it with an expired credit card. Of course you would think you could remove your credit card information from their "Safe Renew", but no, you have to call (I waited 20 minutes with no one picking up their phone, so I left my call back number, which does not confirm your request it just disconnects you. (But just as a side note, if you call for a new service, they answer right away.) When I finally did speak to someone, they tried to blame the bank (BTW not a bank credit card). I know that AMEX won't process on an expired card. (Although I'm a little disappointed in AMEX that they did not require a CVV before processing.) I guess the person I'm really upset with is myself for not reviewing my Credit Card statement and realize that Register.com had manage to collect $99.00 a year on a credit card that expire in 2008! But, never thought of Register.com as a cheat until this... you can search all you want, I have never posted a complaint about any retailer, but a spade is a spade!
