I purchased a Jitterbug phone for my elderly Mother-in-law. They require you to pre-pay and buy minutes, which are very expensive, but since the mother-in-laws usage was pretty low, it seemed like a good product for her. In order to buy more minutes, you have to call their call center and jump through a lot of hoops, so I bought $200 worth of minutes. Today when I opened the bill, I see that Great Call has "expired" about $90 worth of minutes because they weren't used in time. So you have to play this balancing act of buying minutes and using them before they expire, with the risk of running out of minutes and have the phone be unusable. This is a great product for elderly people, but their billing policies are unethical
