The company retrieved our information from the LA County website under construction contractors. They solicited a claim to help us win bids on LA County, city, state and federal construction projects. Upon meeting with them their sales pitch was having a team of lawyers help us with county bid contracts which are up to more than 300 pages long, and to help us win bids as we are a minority small business, and the fee would be $5,000.00 plus 3% of each project won. We noticed the fee was extremely high for membership and asked if we could have a day to think over it. The sales rep a.k.a. the supervisor denied us the additional time to make our decision. We had to say yes or no on the spot. After, thinking it over twice we did not want to lose this opportunity of having a team of lawyers at our side so we signed the contract and paid $5,000.00 for the 1 year membership. Two weeks after we signed our contract we did not hear from the company. They stated that they were waiting for our company to be certified. Once they told us our company was certified over 2 weeks later I started to email "Ron" our caseworker bids from LA County and LA
city that we were interested in bidding on. Ron did not help us with that. I asked to speak to their supervisor the next day and asked for a refund, they denied it. The only only service that "Business Thru Government" provided us with was links and bid numbers located on other LA County websites, but when asked to process the application for the bid they did nothing.
