About Oct of 2012 I Googled my name. I found I had a webpage posted about me on FindtheCompany. It said I had a business, but I don't. It displayed my cell phone number and my address. It says my (imaginary) company brings in over $120,000.00 per year (estimated data), and 0-10 employees (estimated data). They sell financial reports on the companies they post on their website. My question is, how can they sell a financial report about my company that doesn't exist. Isn't that fraud or something? For months I tried to have them remove the web page about me that was posted without my consent. As far as they are concerned, there isn't anything you can do to defend yourself. Anyone trying to contact them knows the frustration level you can feel. I found that Dun and Bradstreet also had a web page posted about me. They ignored my requests to have the webpage removed. Months and months later, I contacted the Better Business Bureau local to Dun and Bradstreet. Coincidentally, a couple days later, a representative from Dun and Bradstreet contacted me. She said she'd investigate and decide whether or not I had a business. She contacted me about a week later and said she had the webpage removed. I tried over and over to contact FindtheCompany and let them know that I took care of the Dun and Bradstreet webpage and now FindtheCompany can remove the webpage they posted about me. I filed a complaint with the BBB in Santa Barbara, CA (at that time they had an F rating with the BBB). Eventually, FindtheCompany removed my webpage. A few months later, I Googled my name and FindtheCompany has reposed the webpage about me. Dun and Bradstreet has not reposed the webpage about me, so when FindtheBest says you need to have the Dun and Bradstreet webpage removed first, don't believe it. It's a lie. Danny Seigle is the operations officer of FindtheBest / FindtheCompany. He played a part in the FindtheCompany reposting recently. Don't ask me how I know, I just do. He has a brother, David Seigle, that works as a programmer for FindtheBest / FindtheCompany. You can google their names and you'll find all kinds of websites about them. When I get their home addresses and personal phone numbers, I'll return the favor and post for all to see. Those of us that were done wrong by FindtheBest / FindtheCompany can give them a taste of their own medicine. We need to tell our story all over the internet.

  • I've got a similar situation. I'm hoping to resolve very soon but findthecompany doesn't provide contact information so you and I have to go to measures like this. Just ridiculous!

  • FindTheBest is sorry to hear that you had such a difficult time removing information. We strive to keep things accurate and up to date while making the process as simple as we can. FindTheCompany.com has information on over 30M companies in the US. FindTheCompany acts as a company advocate, providing small businesses with the opportunity to gain visibility among prospective customers. We connect millions of customers to businesses and encourage businesses to use FindTheCompany as a unique opportunity to reach their target audience.

When someone contacts FindTheBest wanting to remove information from FindTheCompany, there is no push back from us. We direct them to our third party source Dun and Bradstreet, a necessary step in the removal process. If we simply delete a listing from our site it would only be a temporary solution. FindTheCompany's database mirrors Dun and Bradstreet's database. Therefore when FindTheCompany runs an update, that listing would be re-imported back onto FindTheCompany. To keep all removal changes permanent we have customers first remove their information from Dun and Bradstreet and then FindTheBest updates accordingly.

We have set up a specific phone number for customers to call and there are trained people at Dun and Bradstreet who are aware of requests related to FindTheCompany. Users can remove their information by calling a dedicated, toll-free number (800-765-3867) or through submitting an online form (https://iupdate.dnb.com). FindTheBest does provide users with the option of editing their information by creating a free account and submitting changes which go through an approval process.

At this time FindTheBest has an A- rating with the Better Business Bureau. Feel free to contact us anytime to let us know how we can improve or help correct any errors in information.

  • A-, What a joke!! You can find them on the San Diego BBB page and call Findthedata ph# (805) 335-2433. They are not accredited by the BBB. You call and will not get through. Why? They don't want you to. Looked up findthecompany.com just last month and they had a poor rating. Not there now? Strange?... Not really. “BBB found business made good faith effort to resolve complaint but customer not satisfied with business response (9 complaints)” Who would??? Readers: Notice Findthebest representative fictious representative and we will call her "Allison" too, state how to get off their list. "There is no push back from us." In this complaint and my complaint, you will see where we have already contacted Duns and Bradstreet and been removed. Why would "Allison" tell us to do the same thing again? Findthebest & findthecompany want to inflate their database. Don't pay for the service if the service is useless. The data service you buy is only as good as "useful good" data you get out of it. Bogus individual data really what you want? Notice "Allison" didn't provide information to be removed from their system just the same old rant where, "OH it's not our fault. We get our information from 3rd parties." Referring to same compliant resolutions that didn't work the first time and state "Good faith"?? That's insanity. Do the same thing and expect different results doesn’t equal “Good Faith”. Can you trust an organization like this? At the end of the day you will be wasting your money. "Allison" will not reply to this message and provide opt-out information. Poor business practices. If Allison will reply with Findthebest or Findthecompany phone number or legit way to opt-out, I'll eat crow. But, they won't. Can you imagine their database without bogus data? It will have the appearance of a lack luster service. I'll keep refuting these bogus replies to our complaints with the truth.
