The date of loss happened over a period of about 2 years I guess, and it is hard to establish the correct date it began, as mentioned above.

Back in 2008, I published a book of poetry through Xlibris. The book includes, not only my own work, but an anthology of some of the greatest poets.

I told Xlibris that I heard bad things about them, but the sales person insisted that they have a new mode of operation now and convinced me to try them.

Up front costs didn't seem to bad, but after they hooked me, they kept pumping ideas of granduer into my head. So I kept investing for things like Trade Shows, 1,000,000 email campaign TWICE, etc. At the trade show, of which I believe I paid about $1,700 to participate and have my book included, amounted to a book among many on many shelves. I doubt if even one person may have picked it up, especially since Xlibris is not a very high ranking or reputable company.

If you do your research you will find many complaints about this company online. Xlibris knows how to sell you and play down these complaints. My suggestion is to believe the complaints or they wouldn't have been written. I think almost any organization or company will have complaints, but when you see multitudes of them, "Watch Out!"

I think there were less than 10 responses from their email campaign, so I really wondered if my hard earned money was spent properly or even if they sent them out as promised.

My total layout was, pretty well estimated at $13,000.00 and I have made less than $100.00, That's right, $13 thousand dollars, even when it was advertized at major publishing sites like Barnes and Noble and Amazon.

I hope this message will save many from losing thousands upon thousands of dollars like I did with Xlibris.

If anyone should wish to contact me regarding this company and my experience, so they don't experience the heartached that I have, please call me at 710-896-1300

Update: 04/24/2013

With regard to my complaint about XLibris Publishing Company; The amount was more than $10,000 and more like $12,000. My total expenditures were over $13,000.00 but I did get a web site and purchased books

Update: 04/24/2013

, so maybe $1,000 for legitimate personal, and material gain. There only pay about $4.00 per book, according to "The Fine Print," price the book out of the market, at $19.95 for soft back and $29.95 for hard back,

Update: 04/24/2013

Giving the author maybe $5.00 per book and if you try to get the price down, they won't even split the cost, it cuts down the author's royalties.

Update: 04/24/2013

Therefore, to reduce the price $5.00 to even $15.00 sales price, I would get absolutely Zero for my books and $15.00 is still overpriced.
