Trafford Publishing "author representative" cajoled and blandished me to publish my book with them. I told her at the outset to let them read my manuscript FIRST(since the book is about rape, and contains explosive matter) BEFORE taking any money from me. She assured me that "Trafford is different from your previous publisher," with whom I had a lot of problems, and I must "trust" her "to guide" me. I insisted that they read it first, but she raised scruples and shot down my concerns. I finally caved in and sent them the above amount to start the process. She had wanted me to fork over $600.00-plus. But I told her I wanted to take baby steps. Lo and behold, they said they couldn't publish my book because of the explosive content. Getting my drift? Why didn't they tell be this before grabbing my money? I think I know why: the author representative was after money ONLY, she didn't care a damn about me or my book. This is classical "bait and switch" behavior.

Now they're giving me the rigmarole and "six for a nine" treatment. Please help me to get my money back, because, based upon what I've read on the internet about them (well, after wards) I feel I may not get a refund. I want to inform others authors not to give them any money before they read their manuscripts.

By the way: could you help me to find a publisher for my explosive book, "Robbed and Raped by my Two Fathers"? I was raped by a Roman Catholic priest at 11. I came forward recently (65) and received a Cash settlement from the Church. This book is essentially a transcript of what went on behind closed doors. It details the prelude to the rape, the rape, and the aftermath.

  • Vanity publishing is ALWAYS a scam. It is a million dollar industry. They will never return your money. It is a multi million dollar scam operation that I found out after my elderly father was scammed. Real publishers never charge they only pay you. Try submitting to a real publisher here http://www.wildchildpublishing.com/submission-guidelines-ezp-16.html
Otherwise you can create an online book at Smashwords. These places will never take money from you but only pay you when the book sells and that is real publishing. Anyone who tries to charge a writer is a scammer.
