I was looking for an apartment and found a great deal on Craig's List. I called the number and talked with a person. I made an appointment to see him at his office next day. When I got the office, I needed to pay $200 for a list for some properties that the company has. Before I paid the money, I asked him about the property we talked on the phone, he kept saying "yes, yes", and "in order to give you the information (service), you need to pay $200". I felt little uncomfortable but after making sure if it's on the list many times with him at the office and hearing him say yes, I paid the money. I got a list, there was nothing that we talked about, nothing filled out needs, they were all over our budget. I asked him "which was the one we talked?", he pointed at the one.

This is what we talked:
2b/2b house, w/d hook-ups, fenced back yard, two car garages, pet friendly (no pet rent) Costa Mesa $1300
This is what he pointed at:
2b, town house, w/d hook-ups, up stairs unit (that means no back yard), no garage just one carport, no pet, Costa Mesa $1555

And he said "I can negotiate for you, I can make $1555 down to $1300". Well, I do not need him do that for me, I just needed to see the property we talked. I said "I don't need you to negotiate for me, I don't feel comfortable, I want my money back". Was too late, he said "we already gave you a list and have started our service". I tried to get it back but all he said was "you already signed the contract". I talked to the manager and she said the same thing too. It is so not right!!

I have already made a written request for refund as the manager "Alex" told me, so we can get a full refund of $200. If you need the paper, please let me know.

There is also my wife's name on the contract. Her name is(Personal Information Removed).

The person who I talked with is Michael, the manager is Alex, and Letty is like her(Alex) assistant, she takes phones when she is busy. I have been talking with Letty most of the time.

I talked with manager "Alex" on the day we signed the contract, she said "if you send us a written request for refund, we will give you money back".

I attached the contract and the list they gave me. The property with star on the list was the one he mentioned to us. Something totally different from what we were asking for.
