We would like to warn everybody who is going to make home renovation in Toronto or Ontario areas. We hired Jason Matthew Contracting (Jason Matthew is owner) to renovate our basement and were very disappointed and regretted about that.
We supposed it’s their usual practice. Jason Matthew (afro-american) and his partner Adrian (latino-american) by hook and by crook managed to lure a large portion of money as advance. They did framing noncompliant with building rules. Moreover there were many other errors visible to the naked eye. Not going too far, we decided to make an expertise inviting a home inspector and couple of experienced builders. All with one voice declared that framing is absolutely not acceptable. When we wanted to quit with Jason concerning sloppy and unprofessional work, agreed to pay for the 2 days worthless job, they took their tools and disappeared. Actually they stole our money.
Realizing our mistake we would like to let people know about that kind of bad attitude that some “professionals” practice. This begs the question: how long crooks and swindlers will cheat with impunity law-abiding Canadians?
To be honest we didn’t expect this is possible in Canada and at least it’s a very good lesson for us.
