I have three vehicles that were vandalized by someone contaminating all the under hood fluids with a soap and fine dirt resulting in damage to the engines, automatic transmission, power steering components and braking systems.

These vehicles were insured by State Farm under a North Carolina policy. I paid for full coverage (collision/comprehensive) in the event something happened.

May 2012, the intentional sabotage was discovered and I attempted to contact State Farm to file a claim. My agent would not help me file a claim and I was given the run around. I had to go online to find out how to contact the company. State Farm refused to send out an adjuster until I compiled some information about the damages and filed an official complaint with the state department of insurance and also complained to State Farm about their bad faith handling my claim.

State Farm denies there is anything wrong with any of these vehicles and these claims are fraudulent as an excuse to deny coverage.

State Farm is using a paper review company who is biased toward the insurance company and has omitted facts and did not perform any diagnostic testing beyond a standard oil test of fluids that were drained and replaced before the adjuster was sent out for inspection.

I sampled these fluids with a more comprehensive test and discovered high levels of particulate matter which is responsible for grinding away metals in major components. One of these vehicles has damage to the pistons and a loss of compression confirmed by two dealer shops three days after the investigator from State Farm examined the vehicle. Engine replacement was estimated at $3500 for a used engine, this does not include a failed master cylinder and other damage to the hydraulic components or warped rotors of the braking system due to a failure to release.

Another vehicle has a rod knock in the engine which occurred from particulate matter in the engine oil during normal use. The automatic transmission was serviced and a sandy substance was discovered in the drain pan and inside the filter. The valve body remained gummed up and continued to have erratic shifting. The fluid was sampled and considered too dirty for continued service in both May and November, this fluid has been changed out four times in less than a year due to dirt contamination. The power steering also had dirt in it and the pump was screaming with the pressure control valve sticking. The fluid was also too dirty as reported by an independent lab. The braking system also had diluted fluid and I suspect a soap solution due to foaming when it was flushed out. The engine was professionally re-manufactured within the past 40K miles. The transmission has 65K miles on it since it was rebuilt and the dirt is still washing out into the fluid.

The third car has been sitting in derelict condition for the past year because the engine was just replaced and it is not running properly due to a discovery of soap in the diesel tank and dirt in the engine oil. All the fluids have been flushed out as a preventative measure. With dirt contamination in the oil cooler, it will wash out after the car is driven and result in a catastrophic engine failure; this is a known cause of failure with diesel engines. A used engine for this car is very hard to find and a rebuilt engine is over $10,000 not counting installation.
