At time of renewal of my homeowner’s policy, buried within the renewal was the following: Unless you tell us otherwise, your deductible is being increased from $500 to $1,000..
When we filed a claim we discovered that our deductible was increased to $1,000 without our approval When we complained to State Farm we were told that this was a “legal way to notify customers” and that they are not even writing policies with a $500 deductible anymore..
The requirement for us to tell State Farm "no do not increase our deductible" violates FTC guidelines and we have filed a complaint with PA Insurance Department - no resolution as yet.
