I purchased an American Express PrePaid Card at a Long's drugstore based on their packaging promise that they offered, among other things, One fee free ATM withdrawal per month. Following instructions, I loaded $500 dollars and went to their website to order the follow up card. Spoke to customer service about not being able to use my PO box for billing address and again followed instructions. When I went to an ATM for access to my money, I was denied. Complained to customer service (in Mbai, India). Told I had just purchased a gift card but could use it on line. Tried but couldn't, told by customer service that card had never been registered despite web-site, and they took care of it. Tried to use it in store, but couldn't. Customer service said temperary card is locked out when you order permanent card. Told new card would be expedited but that hasn't happened. American Express has my $500 because of false advertising. Interesting business model, rip off thousands of customers for as long as you can, hold on to their money, and hire people in the third world to take the flak. Adds up to real money like all banking scams. Insisted on filing complaint, but have heard nothing as they don't accept e-mails. Their customer service is torture.
