I have had service problems with AT&T for several years. The primary issue is dropped calls when I am at home and, since I haven't had a land line in forever, can be a serious inconvenience. I would say that 8 out of ten calls will drop if they last longer than two minutes. After literally dozens of phone calls with their customer service and technical support operators, I finally got them to admit that the problem was on their end as their network simply cannot handle the number of customers they have in my area. Their suggested solution is for me to buy what they call a "microcell tower" that will route my calls through my high-speed internet connection. The problem I have with this solution is that the microcell tower costs $200 dollars and has a $20 monthly service charge. After nearly a dozen years with AT&T Wireless, I don't see any justification in asking me to spend hundreds of more dollars on top of the $100 a month I am already spending. Unfortunately, their contract only guarantees that they will get paid and does not guarantee that I will receive service. When I asked to be released from my two-year contract (after they admitted the problem was on their end) they refused. When I petitioned to be provided a micro-cell at no charge, I was refused. My only recourse at this time is to wait until my contract expires and then switch to a different carrier, taking my phone number with me. I do not expect resolution any longer, I just want to warn other people that AT&T Wireless can be a waste of money if they live in the Eastern suburbs of Portland, OR.

  • I would cancell and not pay them the cancel fee. It will go on your credit, but beats having poor service and paying out money each month.
I switched from AT&T, had land line, every month bill would be different. Calling customer care was a joke, they only interested in up-selling for commission. They don't have the service they use to or the people.
