Just got a letter in mail from this sweepstakes. A "Prize Structure" attachment says that I need to respond by March 7, 2013 to be entered to win a $1,100,000 grand prize. Also says that "The prize structure is as follows and is guaranteed to be awarded to the winner." The letter also says "Each winner will be notified by mail and will be required to complete, sign and have notarized an affidavit of eligibility, release of eligibility, and where legally permissible, a publicity release which must be received within 14 days of date printed on notification or an alternate winner will be chosen."

Funny how they mention a legality issue, when what they are doing is completely illegal. The reason I say that is because they just tried to sell me 2 gold-encrusted watches and a $1.40 per week subscription for 2 magazines of my choice and a 3rd for free. Yet, on the letter it clearly states (in bold): "There is no purchase or payment required to enter or win and a purchase will not improve your chances of winning."

At the end of the conversation, when they asked for a Credit Card, I simply asked "How do I not know that this is a scam?" To which I got a long-winded reply about how there is no way for me to know and to just trust them because "This sweepstakes is sponsored exclusively by National Magazine Exchange."
Whoever is reading this, please be careful. Do not give or "confirm" your credit card information or any personally-identifiable information. Thank you!
