We purchased an Ariens 24" Platinum snowblowers from Snowblowers Direct for $1399. We started it up, no problem. But, it does not go in reverse and it has only one speed: fast-forward. Never got to even use it in the snow and we called them up and they pawned us off on the manufacturer, Ariens, and they weren't much better. BEWARE of the all of the 'rave reviews' on SBD. SBD will NOT post a review if it has less than 3 stars. As we research this issue, we are finding more and more people having similar problem with their Ariens snowblower not going in reverse, but you would never know it from SBD's site because they won't post poor, but honest, reviews of products. They're very unethical in that respect. They will take your money as quick as can be, but they will not stand by the products they sell. They do not post all of the honest reviews, only the ones that have 4 stars or more. They pretty much wash their hands of the sale after they get their money. We will continue to take action until they make things right by replacing the damaged Ariens snowblower with one that works right out of the box and goes in reverse and has variable speeds just as we expected it would.
