For past approx. 15 years have been consigning sports items to this store. Recently while I was in NYC on vacation they started to go out of business. They informed me to come to the store and take my consignment items. There were 30 pages of items. There were on average 15 items per page that showed they were not sold but they were not in the store. That is 450 items. When I confronted the owner Shawn he said"you know how it is,tags fall off,items get damaged and tossed."
I was informed by the owner of Play It Again in Mission Viejo CA that his customers told him that during the Costa Mesa going out of bus. sale that when you brought up to the register for ex. a $50. item the employee would tear off the tag,throw it in the trash & charge them $5.oo and put the cash in their pocket.
This same owner Tom said that I would not recover a penny because Shawn the Costa Mesa store owner has a LLC and probably will declare bankruptcy.
I would procur the goods I brought by getting up at 5:00 am and go to garage sales and flea markets spending my money and gas, placing wear and tear on my truck etc.
I am sure I am not the only consignee that he has stolen from.
Right now I am waiting for the previous owner of the store who came in and took over the store (only to liquidate eveything)to give me a copy of the 30 pages of my account that is on the store computer). He told me that Shawn was responsible for any money the store owes me to Dec. 25 and that he is resposible from Dec. 26, 2012 to the store closing in regards to the sale of my goods.
