Received a phone call purporting to be my computer technician. He was able to give me his name and my security code. Told me I needed to purchase Hackers Security Layer (a lifetime cost would be $425). Thinking it was my own technician I eventually agreed to purchase on my visa card. He then took charge of my computer and proceeded to show me the amount of times hackers had used it. He then did some work on my machine and hung up. What he did I do not know but I can not see any programme, Hackers Security Layer on it. About 20 minutes later my real technician rang in answer to my email and telephone call to them the day before. This was when I found out the previous was a scam. It was too late to ring the credit union, anyway I found out later that the transaction would have gone through immediately and I would still have lost the money. Macsopt Solutions' name did not appear on the transaction, it was taken out by Cyber Astro Ltd, Gurgaon. I have been in touch with Macsopt to refund the money but no luck there and still no Hackers Security Layer on my computer from them. I am not usually easily fooled but when given the name of the technician I usually deal with and my security code, why would I argue with him.
